The Fashion Row show me more! Fashion Designers For Haiti January 29th, 2010
Paris Fashion Week just wrapped up and NYC is bracing for the tents and runways. This does not mean that the style industry is oblivious to the tragedies around us…
The Council of Fashion Designers of America and its members have come together to produce a t-shirt campaign that benefit the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund.
“The tragedy in Haiti has affected everyone and most of us individually have given money for relief,” said Diane von Furstenberg, president of the CFDA. “However, I think it is now important to send a message and create a channel for funding from fashion as an industry.”
The Peter Arnell-designed tee features a black and lime green logo with the tag line “Hope Help Heal Haiti”,
Coach Outlet, and will be sold at retailers nationwide as well as online starting February 12.
Fashion Delivers is a charitable organization that distributes excess clothing to needy individuals and families all around the globe. Its board of directors include the likes of Russell Simmons and Sean “P Diddy” Combs. The group issued a call to designers, retailers and anyone else to donate items that the people of Haiti can use. To give or obtain more information, go to
www.fashiondelivers.orgIndividual designers have also created their own charitable projects. Ralph Lauren has created a Haiti Relief Polo collection sold online. Kooba is donating 15% of its online sales to Doctors Without Borders. Independent boutiques like Bird are also donating a percentage of sales to their charities of choice.
Trends may come and go, but generosity and humanity never go out of style.
You can always donate directly to organizations themselves.

Miley Cyrus Makes a Move with Her Balenciaga Purse January 29th, 2010
Our little girl is growing up! Miley Cyrus may be Billy Ray’s daughter, but she seems more than a little bit rock ‘n’ roll to his country in this wild get-up. Luckily the off-white Balenciaga handbag she’s carrying adds a sense of high-end chic to her ripped jeans and studded boots. Rock on, girl.

When in Rome, Fergie Carries Cole Haan’s Tiana January 29th, 2010
Black Eyed Pea’s Fergie and husband Josh Duhamel looked every bit classic Hollywood glamor at the El Capitan theater at the premiere of “When In Rome’ Wednesday night. Josh looked dapper and handsome in an impeccably cut black suit. Fergie was sleek and sexy with a strapless little black dress with leather skirt detail. Equally sleek and sexy is the Cole Haan Tiana clutch she carried with her. At this price point, you won’t have to take a cash advance to have one of your own. This clutch is an accessible $198 and available at the Cole Haan. Red carpet style, yes,
designer handbags, astronomical price tag, no. Yay!

Paris Haute Couture Week: Chanel Spring 2010 January 28th, 2010
Classic Chanel. This season, the legendary Karl Lagerfeld actually seemed to move away from the signature details that this house is known for. Little black dress? Nope. Gold chains and braid? Didn’t see them. This confectionery colored collection had variations of the iconic Chanel suit of course, but with unexpected silver lame, liquid silver and silver leather details instead. Look upon look came down the runway like the frosted tops of cupcakes, right to the poufy retro-style bouffants. Dresses were lighter than air silk, draped or jeweled. While I found most of the show absolutely beautiful, I had to admit, some silhouettes were not very flattering to many bodies.
Favorite look? I loved the cape of handmade silk roses (about 35 o00, give or take a few!)
The bags? Hmm, for this particular presentation, the models didn’t carry any. At this level of luxury, why be distracted by anything else?

Paris Haute Couture Week: Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2010 January 28th, 2010
Jean Paul Gaultier put on a flamboyant display of jungle chic and ultra-luxe gauchos for his Spring 2010 Haute Couture presentation. The fashion was a parade of highly embellished denim, extremely sculpted dresses that looked to be woven out of rainforest flora. The most expensive sombreros in the world were probably found on the heads of the models, as well as fantastical tresses that would make Marie Antoinette sigh with envy. The South American flavored runway saw inspirations from the Aztecs and feathered birds of prey while being serenaded to the sounds of Peruvian soprano, Yma Sumac, and salsa singer, Luis Marino.
The handbags seemed simple in comparison to the sculpted, elaborate hats and dresses. The models carried bags that seemed to be basket-woven from exotic jungle grasses into simple silhouettes. Some were so delicately arranged, it was not clear if these were practical pieces that were actually meant to be sold.

Hilary Duff Is Hot to Trot with Her Balenciaga Purse January 27th, 2010
I spy with my little eye…ooh: a fabulous Yigal Azrouel leather jacket, Jimmy Choo for Hunter patent leather wellies, and a massive black Balenciaga handbag. Well done, Hilary Duff — you’ve scored a fashion hat trick. The fedora-wearing starlet hit the streets in her high fashion get-up, looking perfectly polished and stylish without being too “look at me, I’m wearing head-to-toe designer gear.” Nicely done.

Michelle Trachtenberg’s Balenciaga Purse Makes Us Green with Envy January 27th, 2010
Pssst. Did you hear about the “Gossip Girl” bad girl with a fabulous handbag? Michelle Trachtenberg hit the airport with a beautiful rich green Balenciaga purse. Sure,
Chanel Bags, every starlet and her mom has a Balenciaga, but the emerald hue really sets this one apart. Bonus points for the cute striped scarf.

Britney Spears Grabs Her Rebecca Minkoff Morning After Bag January 27th, 2010
One can only imagine the kind of “morning after” Britney Spears has had before, but at least this one is stylish. The newly brunette pop star clutched her croc-embossed Rebecca Minkoff Morning After Bag on a recent outing. The rest of her outfit isn’t very remarkable (unless you like Snoopy), but the purse is classy and trendy at the same time.

Claudia Schiffer Sports a Baby Bump & Her Patchwork Balenciaga January 26th, 2010
Talk about a yummy mummy. Claudia Schiffer may be pregnant with her third child, but the supermodel looked as glamorous and effortlessly chic as always. Normally I don’t go for patchwork, well, anything, but Claudia’s colorful patchwork Balenciaga handbag does add a nice visual pop against her neutral outfit (which I adore). That’s going to be one chic kid.

Leona Lewis Trades Designer Purse for Paul’s Boutique Bag January 26th, 2010
She may have just had a song nominated for a Golden Globe, but singer Leona Lewis clearly hasn’t bought into the Hollywood game — sartorially, at least. Lewis, who was carried purses from Urban Outfitters as well as Stella McCartney,
Chanel, stayed with the budget fashion with her white Maisy purse from Paul’s Boutique, a brand sold at Topshop and ASOS. Way to keep it real!
